Hernias

Hernia is when part of your inside bulges out through a weakness in the abdominal wall. This can cause pain/discomfort or intestinal blockage, or in some cases they may be painless and not noticed by patients.

There are different types of hernias depending on where the bulge is. Common locations are inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, umbilical hernia, epigastric hernia, ventral hernia, and incisional hernia. A repair is recommended if you have symptoms. We offer both minimally invasive (e.g., laparoscopic or “key hole” surgery) and traditional open surgery, depending on your surgical history and the type of hernia you have.
