Biography
Dr Anthony Lin, with his extensive training and expertise, has been at the forefront of bowel disease treatment, management of anorectal conditions, and hernia repair specialist services in Wellington.
I am a general and colorectal surgeon dedicated to providing modern, high-quality, patient-centred care to people with gastrointestinal and general surgical conditions.
Within the public healthcare system, I work as a general and colorectal surgeon at Wellington Regional Hospital. I provide private care at Wakefield Hospital and Southern Cross Hospital, Wellington. Together with nurses and other staff at these locations, we offer friendly, patient-centered, evidence-based care for a full range of general surgical and colorectal conditions.
After graduating from the University of Otago, I worked as a junior doctor in Christchurch and rural New Zealand for two years. I then headed to the USA, completing my general surgical training at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital and UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles. I underwent subspecialty training in colon and rectal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. In 2015, I returned to New Zealand and undertook additional training in colorectal surgery at Auckland City Hospital and Christchurch Hospital. During this time, I completed a PhD in surgery at the University of Auckland.
I have extensive experience in colorectal cancer surgery, minimally invasive surgery (e.g., laparoscopic or “keyhole” surgery), pelvic floor disorders, and benign anorectal conditions. I also have a special interest in hernia surgery. I remain involved in medical education and multiple national and international research works to support my passion for continued learning and providing modern, up-to-date care.
