Hernias

A hernia occurs when part of your internal organ bulges through a weakness in the abdominal wall. This can cause pain, discomfort, or intestinal blockage, or it may be painless and go unnoticed.

Common types of hernias include:

  • Inguinal hernia

  • Femoral hernia

  • Umbilical hernia

  • Epigastric hernia

  • Ventral hernia

  • Incisional hernia

Hernia repair is recommended if you have symptoms. We offer both minimally invasive surgery (e.g., laparoscopic or “keyhole” surgery) and traditional open surgery, depending on your surgical history and the type of hernia you have.
